OLD Essendon is into the Victorian Amateur Football Association's A section for the first time after thrashing established club St Bernard's by 13 goals in the B section second-semi final at Sportscover Arena, formerly Elsternwick Park.

The Bombers joined the VAFA nearly 30 years ago and reached B section in 2001.

Old Essendon is thought to be the first VAFA grand finalist to have co-coaches.

Friends Adam Edwards and Rodney Callaghan were recruited from Keilor in the Essendon Districts, where they co-coached three A-grade flags.

? Old Xaverians will consider tomorrow if it will take court action against the VAFA over veteran Ted Woodruff's two-match suspension for charging.

It was Woodruff's first report and with Xavs playing in the A-section preliminary final next Sunday, a reduction would help them in their quest for a 10th flag since 1995. But the VAFA said an appeal could only be mounted if the tribunal process was flawed.
